  • Unfinished knotty wood door is made of 100% Natural Knotty Wood, spruce wood, pine wood, or hemlock wood, which will withstand strenuous conditions regardless of whether you use it indoors or outdoors. Unlike cypress wood doors, which increases its portability. However, this also means that it is the weakest material.

How to Install My Barn Door?

  • How much clearance do I need?
  • At least 6".
  • What is the suitable opening of the doorway for this door?
  • example: 30" wide and 80" tall opening, add the overlap amount that wanted for privacy (3" width on each side and 4" on top) = suitable for 36" x 84" door.
  • Can this door be cut down in any inches wide I want, like from 42" to 36"?
  • Not recommended. 
  • Can this door be used as a exterior door
  • Not recommended
  • Can the door be painted?
  • Yes. You can paint it in any colors you want to suit your home décor.
  • Is the door predrilled for the sliding hardware?
  • No. 
  • Is there a pre-routed groove in the bottom edge?
  • Yes.
  • Does this door have a K design on both sides? Front and back side?
  • Yes it does. The door comes unassembled, the “K” can be added to both sides if you want.
  • Any suggestion on the color to be stained?
  • White is quite popular among our customers.
  • What comes with this?
  • Everything to build the door as pictured comes with the kit. Hardware to hang the door such as the rail and wheels is sold as a kit separately .
  • Can I use 2 doors on the 6’6” rail so that they face “away” from each other with a slight overlap?
  • Yes. You would better to use double door overlapping hardware.
  • Would a 12' door need a 24' track?
  • Yes , usually track length need at least twice of the door panel width. Add extra 4-6" would be perfect.
  • Quite simple 3 steps to help you decide barn door track length:
  • 1. measure the door openning width. i.g. 32"
  • 2. Double this measurement. 32"x2=64"
  • 3. Add 4-6" to last step. 64"+5"=69" (6' length)
